GLOBAL TALENT STREAM
The Global Talent Stream (GTS) is an immigration program that allows Canadian employers to quickly hire foreign skilled workers to fill a certain job position. This program is the best way when Canadian workers are not available for specific roles and are not able to perform the duties required by the job.
The processing of the GTS work permit application is only two weeks, making it the fastest immigration pathway for skilled workers who want to settle in Canada.
This Stream, which is a part of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, is also designed to help innovative companies and businesses grow by ensuring they can access highly-skilled global talent they need quickly, enabling them to be globally competitive. Employers who are successfully through the program will be able to quicken the process for hiring foreign nationals through the Global Skills Strategy.
There are two categories under the Global Talent Stream:
The GTS accepts applications through two categories. Category A and Category B.
Category A: | Employers may be eligible for Category A of the GTS if they have been referred by one of the Stream's designated partners. | https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/hire-temporary-foreign/global-skills-strategy/dedicated-service-channel.html |
Category B: | Employers may be eligible for Category B of the GTS if they are seeking to hire highly-skilled foreign workers to fill positions in occupations found on the Global Talent Occupations List, which have been determined to be in-demand. |
While the two categories have unique requirements, they do share a few common requirements:
Processing Fee: Employers must submit a $1000 CAD application fee.
Business Legitimacy: Employers must submit documentation proving the legitimacy of their business.
Labour Market Benefits Plan: Employers must work with Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to develop a Labour Market Benefits Plan demonstrating that their business activities will have a lasting, positive impacts on the Canadian labour market.
Two week processing time.
